Nick Milestone

Nick Milestone (BSc Quantity Surveying, BSc.Hons, Msc. Project Management) is Managing Director of B & K Structures Ltd and has been with the Bowmer & Kirkland Group since 2002.   Established in 2006 as a trading division of B & K Steelwork Fabrications Ltd (est 1972), the company was originally created to service the needs of retail customers looking for a structural framed solution, using low-carbon sustainable materials.  In the first year of trading, the company successfully achieved a turnover of £4.25m. In 2014 B&K Structures achieved a turnover in excess of £27m based on its core product ‘Timber’

The success and demand for engineered timber structures in the UK led to a complete change in focus, with the entire company adopting the name B&K Structures Ltd to reflect the new business strategy.  The learning and innovations gathered from 20 years’ experience in the UK steel construction industry have helped develop a successful timber structures business utilizing steel, glulam, cross laminated timber and structural timber frame technology for the residential, education, leisure, commercial and retail markets delivery landmark projects for Blue Chip Clients.

Nick is also an active Director for the UK Structural Timber Association, Director and Chairman of TRADA (Timber research and development association), board member of the Built Environment Hub.

Through TRADA and in consultation with Industry heads such as Arup, Nick lead the UK’s first ‘National Structural Timber Specification’ covering the design, manufacture and erection tolerances for solid wood construction.

Nick has been in the construction industry since 1986, starting off as a trainee quantity surveyor progressing through to senior quantity surveyor / construction manager, Nick lives in Derbyshire, UK with his wife and three children.
